Dear Friends,

Welcome to the Gina for School Board Website. Thank you for visiting.

Every child deserves the best advantages a quality education can provide—that is why I am seeking a second term on the Davis Board of Education. I have been a Member and President of our School Board that models teamwork and raises the bar on productive governance, and I am ready to continue my energy and passion for our schools.

I grew up in Davis as the daughter of two teachers, graduated from Davis High School, and have been a parent with my own children in Davis schools for over 16 years. My heart is in this district, with our students, our teachers, and our community. Parents and teachers trust my decision-making and know I build successful coalitions.

I'm especially proud we've never stopped moving forward on behalf of our kids, despite some of the toughest economic times in memory.

Leadership and Accomplishments include:

Maintained fiscal solvency and balanced every budget in the face of relentless state budget reductions;
Preserved excellence in educational programs and maintained our standing as a top school district;
Recovered $4.5 million in funding from the State;
Restored transparency and trust to District operations by hiring bold and innovative administrative leaders;
United staff and community in a respectful dialogue in order to resolve difficult financial challenges; and
Launched new strategies as Board President to ensure productive meetings.

This is a critical moment for the School District. Tough times are not over, and we are going to have to continue strong fiscal responsibility while protecting the quality in our programs. Our current Board has been tested, and our decision-making proven responsive and creative. Please join me in supporting my fellow Board Members who are also up for re-election: Tim Taylor and Sheila Allen. We can't afford otherwise.

I do believe we can be pragmatic without losing hope. We have a strong and caring team of Davis teachers and school leaders who strive to do their best for students every day. I see this investment in quality education in my visits to schools, in my meetings with parents and teachers, and in conversations I have out in our community.
